NFL Draft Is Right Around the Corner
NFL Draft Is Right Around the Corner
Seven rounds of player selections will begin Thursday, April 26th and end Saturday, April 28th. When it is all said and done 32 NFL teams will have picked on average seven new players. Trades will happen as teams try to move up or move down in the draft, each trying to plug holes on their roster and attempting to find that next big super star.
And who will be the number one pick in this year’s draft? Unless the Earth tilts off of its axis this year’s first pick will be Andrew Luck from Stanford and he will be chosen by the Indianapolis Colts in an attempt to find a replacement for their now-departed future Hall of Famer, Peyton Manning. This is such a sure bet that there just seems to be no doubt that it will happen. It has moved beyond the rumor stage and has taken on all the characteristics of a done deal.
Almost as certain is the number two pick by the Washington Redskins who most likely will choose Robert Griffin III from Baylor. This pick was originally St. Louis’s but a trade was made for the 6th overall pick as well as first-round picks in 2013 and 2014. A steep price to pay for an untested rookie but projections seem to agree Griffin will do quite well in the NFL.
After the first two picks it becomes somewhat of a crap shoot. The Top Ten should fill out with the likes of Trent Richardson of Alabama, Matt Kalil of USC, Morris Claiborne of LSU, Justin Blackmon of Oklahoma State, Quinton Coples of North Carolina and Ryan Tannehill of Texas A&M, but in what order those players are taken will of course depend on the whims, desires and needs of teams like Tampa Bay, St. Louis and Miami.
Over 250 college football players will be chosen during those three days of draft picks and then the real maneuvering begins as teams look at possible trades, releases and other undrafted college players. When the dust has settled literally hundreds of football players will be contemplating life in a new city and that means, of course, relocation.
