NFL PLAYOFF PICTURE MUDDLED HEADING TO WEEK 17
NFL Playoff pictures are notoriously out-of-focus heading into the final week of the regular season, but for some reason 2017 seems to be particularly hard to clarify.
It’s not so much the division leaders who are in question, but rather those vying for a wild card berth. In the AFC, four teams fight for two spot, and in the NFC the Seattle Seahawks are hoping for a late Christmas present from Carolina.
Here’s how it all shakes out:
In the AFC, we know for a fact New England, Pittsburgh, Jacksonville, and Kansas City are going to the post-season. After that it gets a bit shaky. Baltimore can clinch a playoff berth with a win over Cincinnati this Sunday. The Ravens will say goodbye to the playoffs if they lose to the Bengals and the Titans, Chargers, and Bills each win in the NFL this week.
The Titans make the playoffs if they beat the Jags on Sunday, or if the Chargers and Bills lose.
The Chargers make the NFL playoff if they beat the Raiders and the Titans lose to the Jags.
And the Bills? They better beat the Dolphins and then pray for a whole lot of good mojo.
In the NFC, it comes down to Philadelphia, Minnesota, New Orleans, Carolina, and the L.A. Rams for sure. That leaves Atlanta and the Seattle Seahawks.
The Seahawks make the playoffs with a win over Arizona and an Atlanta loss to Carolina. If Atlanta wins, they go to the playoffs. If the Seahawks lose, Atlanta goes to the playoffs.
In the words of my grandmother, it is all as clear as mud.
Stay tuned! It should be an exciting Week 17 in the NFL.
