What a BUSY day in the NBA! Derek, Luke, Jordan & More
A Busy Day In The NBA
Well, as we predicted yesterday in our previous NBA article, today all heck broke loose in the NBA as the trade deadline approached and finally ended. When the smoke had cleared one coach was gone and fifteen players were packing their bags and looking for the quickest flight to their new destination.
Here is a quick summary of what happened in a very busy day in pro basketball:
The L.A. Lakers traded Derek Fisher to Houston for Jordan Hill in an obvious salary cap move.
The Lakers also traded Luke Walton to Cleveland for Ramon Sessions.
Indiana traded a 2nd Round draft pick to Toronto for Leandro Barbosa
Denver was busy trading Nene to Washington for JaVale McGee and Ronny Turiaf.
Washington also sent Nick Young to the Clippers.
Houston traded Jonny Flynn and Hasheem Thabeet to Portland for Marcus Camby.
Portland kept up the purging by sending Gerald Wallace to New Jersey for Mehmet Okur and Shawne Williams
Finally, Golden State traded Stephen Jackson, who they had just acquired Tuesday from Milwaukee, to San Antonio for Richard Jefferson.
Two other notes of interest: Portland also fired long-time coach Nate McMillan and probably the biggest non-move of the season involved Dwight Howard remaining with Orlando despite months of rumors involving possible trades for him.
And you thought you had a busy day at work? All across the nation there are players and families scrambling to make arrangements to begin the relocation to their new city. Many play tomorrow so some things need to happen immediately.
