Los Angeles took a big step closer to bringing the NFL back to downtown this week when the City Council unanimously approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with AEG (developers of The Ritz-Carlton Residences at L.A. LIVE), which will ultimately lead to the development of Farmers Field, a world-class stadium for professional football, concerts, soccer and special events.
The stadium will also allow for major sporting event such as the Super Bowl, Final Four, World Cup, Olympic Games, and would modernize the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The $1.2 billion project, which is expected to break ground in June 2012, will result in more than 20,000 new jobs, create more than $41 million in new tax revenues for the city, county and state, and will elevate the Convention Center to one of the country's top five facilities. ..all at no cost to the taxpayers.
Homeowners who live on the south and west sides of the building will enjoy aerial views of the stadium's festivities, adding to the plethora of world-class sports and entertainment events and activities just outside the doors of The Ritz-Carlton Residences at L.A. LIVE.
