NFL Trade Deadline Passes with barely a whisper - Sports Relocation, Inc
NFL TRADE DEADLINE PASSES WITH BARELY A WHISPER
The 4 p.m. EDT trade deadline has passed, and as is so often the case, few transactions happened. With five minutes to go before the deadline, New England acquired DT Isaac Sopoaga and a 6th round draft pick from Philadelphia for a 5th round draft pick; that would be the last of the limited transactions for the day.
Unlike the NBA and MLB trade deadlines, the NFL usually is more about hype than reality. For days the names Darren McFadden, Maurice Jones-Drew, Larry Fitzgerald and Mark Ingram were tossed about in the rumor mill. Today the popular name was Jared Allen, the DE for the Vikings, as teams inquired about a trade and ultimately teams declined to make a trade.
The day was not, however, without some player movement. The Vikings did sign DE Justin Trattou, and the Patriots signed Free Agent wide-receiver Michael Jenkins. On the 28th the Eagles traded Clifton Geathers, a defensive end, to Indianapolis for fullback Stanley Havili.
Still, the blockbuster trades that had been predicted did not happen, so teams will march forward into Week 9 of the season with the players currently on their roster unless they sign a free agent from the many available.
