NBA Free Agency Heats Up

The NBA Free Agency season is in its early stages, but that doesn’t mean it started out cool.

We barely settled in for the annual show when Kevin Durant, the all-star free agent of the Oklahoma City Thunder, agreed to a two-year deal with the Golden State Warriors. The deal, which will reportedly be for two years and $54.3 million, will be signed on Thursday, the 6th, the first day signings can occur. The deal also includes a player out-option after one year, meaning Golden State has exactly one year to score an NBA Championship with their super team.

Other deals worth noting:

  • Tarik Black agreed to a four-year, $12.85 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers

  • Deron Williams agreed to a one year, $10 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks.

  • Matt Barnes agreed to his second stint with the Sacramento Kings.

  • Rajon Rondo came to terms with the Chicago Bulls for two years and $28 milllion.

  • Jamal Crawford will sign a three year, $42 million deal with the Los Angeles Clippers.

  • Shooting guard Garrett Temple will sign a three year, $24 million deal with the Sacramento Kings.

  • Andrew Nicholson will sign a four year, $26 million deal with the Washington Wizards.

  • Eric Gordon is headed to Houston and a four year, $53 million contract.

  • Austin Rivers will remain a Los Angeles Clipper after agreeing to a three year, $35 deal.

  • Center Mahinmi will go to the Washington Wizards for $64 million over four years.

And that’s just the first four days of the NBA Free Agency for 2016.
