2012 NBA Trade Deadline Approaches...NEXT!
There is one day to go before the trade deadline in the NBA has been reached and if yesterday was any indication there are still a few deals left out there.
Yesterday Golden State sent Monta Eillis and two players to Milwaukee for center Andrew Bogut and Stephen Jackson. This was a trade that had been rumored for quite some time and finally both teams got the players they were seeking. Ellis will be a great fit for Milwaukee and Golden State has been coveting the greatly-talented but oft-injured Bogut for quite some time.
Still lurking in the shadows is Dwight Howard; his future seems to shift almost daily. Last night following the Magic game Howard said he wanted to finish his career in Orlando and the team just needed a couple more players to compliment him, but sources close to Howard continue to confirm that Howard is eager to leave the Magic and play for the Nets. With one day remaining it is put up or shut up time for Orlando and New Jersey. Chances are excellent that this trade will happen in time for the next news cycle so stay tuned.
Expect a few more trades as the hours tick by towards that deadline. There are still some spots on several teams that need to be filled. It is believed that some teams are waiting to see what happens in the Howard sweepstakes before pulling the trigger on any other deals. There will quite likely be a late flurry of trades tomorrow as the hours run out.
Apart from that one big trade last night it has been a relatively quiet week so far in the NBA with few transactions happening. The term “the calm before the storm” aptly applies to the past few days around the League.
