2012 NBA Draft Rewind - SportsRelocation.com
NBA DRAFT TOP TEN PICKS
Never before in the history of the NBA Draft had the top two picks come from the same college. Well, it has finally happened.
Last night the New Orleans Hornets picked Kentucky forward Anthony Davis with the Number One pick overall and then history was made with Charlotte picking at number two Kentucky freshman Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
Davis becomes the centerpiece of the New Orleans team that lost Chris Paul to a trade last year. The 6’10” star dominated defensively and averaged 14.2 points, 10.4 rebounds and 4.7 blocks per game his freshman year; in addition he was named college basketball’s player of the year.
The rest of the top ten picks looked like this:
3rd Bradley Beal, Florida, went to Washington
4th Dion Waiters, Syracuse, went to Cleveland
5th Thomas Robinson, Kansas, went to Sacramento
6th Damian Lillard, Weber State, went to Portland
7th Harrison Barnes, North Carolina, went to Golden State
8th Terrence Ross, Washington, went to Toronto
9th Andre Drummond, Connecticut, went to Detroit
10th Austin Rivers, Duke, went to Charlotte
North Carolina had four players picked in the top twenty. Besides Barnes at #7 the others were Kendall Marshall, #13 to Phoenix, John Henson, #14, to Milwaukee, and Tyler Zeller, #17, to Dallas.
Now that the hoopla of the draft is over the business of basketball begins. It is crucial for any team to sign a top ten player as soon as possible so that the training can begin. For teams like New Orleans and Charlotte that have so many hopes riding on these picks, the importance of a quick signing magnifies greatly. The fate of a team can hinge on the right pick and some players are capable of turning the fortunes of a franchise seemingly overnight.
As always, SportsRelocation.com was paying very close attention to the proceedings last night. Once signed, these players will need to start the relocation process and that’s where we enter the scene. At SR our job is to make your transition to a new city as painless as possible.
