2017 NFL Trade Deadline Fast Approaching

24 October, 2017

2017 NFL trade deadline is Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. ET, and the rumors are flying fast and furious about NFL transactions, which is always amusing since most teams do not complete trades in the mid-season.  Still, most teams are still in the hunt for the playoffs, and injuries have left quite a few teams with some gaping holes in talent, so anything is possible. Some squads will still try to shop veteran players to clear out cap space or because of productivity. Like every year, there are several t [...]

NFL Transactions: One Team, One Day, Thirty-One Lives Affected

05 September, 2017

NFL transactions continue as the final cuts for the 2017 season just occurred, bringing each team down to the mandated 53-man roster. One sentence quickly summarizing a flurry of activity.  To drive home this point, let’s take a look at the New York Giants and the transactions they put into motion on Sunday, September 3, 2017. The Giants acquired CB Ross Cockrell from Pittsburgh for a conditional 2018 draft pick.  They also place LB Mark Herzlich and DL Josh Banks on injured reserve.  [...]

NFL Transactions Are Endless

21 August, 2017

NFL transactions are happening constantly as the rest of us go about our daily lives.  Just this past weekend, in the span of 48 hours, twenty-one players experienced the harsh reality of life in the NFL and their lives were greatly affected. Nine teams, twenty-one transactions, in 48 hours . . . one weekend . . . with two more weeks to go before each teams must whittle their rosters from 90 players to fifty-three.  If that same pace of transactions happens over the next fourteen days, we w [...]

Top College Quarterbacks To Watch in 2017

15 August, 2017

Top College Quarterbacks to watch in 2017 are many.  This may well be the best year for quarterbacks in college in quite a long time, and you better believe the pros are paying close attention.  Let’s face it, in the NFL, there really are only five or six elite quarterbacks.  After that the fall to the second tier is a long one, so there are probably twenty-five teams very interested in the 2017 crop of college quarterbacks. Let’s take a look at, arguably, the Top Five in the Class of [...]

NFL Rule Change On Roster Cuts

01 August, 2017

The NFL rule change regarding roster cuts, passed by league owners back in January 2017, will be in effect this year during Training Camps, which just began around the NFL. This new rule states that when teams trim their rosters from 90 players to 53, all roster cuts will occur on the same day. In the past, roster cuts were conducted in two phases, one dropping the roster from 90 to 75, and the second cutting the rosters from 75 to the final 53. The preseason ends on September 1, 2017. [...]

Inglewood Stadium Delayed One Year

30 May, 2017

Inglewood Stadium, future home of the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers, will be delayed in opening for one year due to two months of torrential rains which severely delayed work on the 298-acre sports and entertainment center. 15.4 inches of rain fell on the worksite from November to February, at times leaving a lake where excavation had begun.  The decision was finally made to postpone opening until 2020.  NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told the NFL league’s 32-team owners of the delay rece [...]

2017 NFL Draft Winners and Losers

02 May, 2017

We hesitate to even write this article because, quite frankly, picking the 2017 NFL Draft winners and losers is like tossing a dart at a dartboard blindfolded.  What appears to be a great draft one day can blow up and disappear with one injury during training camp, and what looks like a miserable draft can turn into the stuff of legends (just ask the Seahawks Legion of Boom about drafts). However, what fun is the NFL Draft without some speculation?  For fans and observers, that is all we ar [...]

2017 NFL Draft in Two Weeks

19 April, 2017

2017 NFL Draft is rapidly approaching, a fact every single NFL executive is keenly aware of.  April 27-29 are the dates for the annual selection of college athletes, and the great shuffle of players which occurs every year immediately after the Draft. Who do the experts think will be picked in the opening round? If history is any indication, one would be just as accurate predicting by tossing a dart at a list of college athletes, but that won’t prevent us here at Sports Relocation, Inc. [...]

The Las Vegas Raiders Impact

11 April, 2017

Las Vegas Raiders impact . . . what was it? The stories of team relocations hit the news with the impact of a crashing meteor, and they dominate the news cycle for several days or weeks, but after all the excitement has died down, what really is the impact of a professional sports team relocating?  How will Las Vegas change as a result of the Oakland Raiders moving to that town? For that matter, how will Oakland change as the result of losing a pro sports franchise Oakland Raiders? Intere [...]
