In what could be his final headline-making play in Cincinnati, Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer put his home on the Cincinnati real estate market for $2.1 million. The disgruntled QB recently asked the Bengals to trade him, threatening to retire if it doesn’t happen.
It looks like retirement might end up being Palmer’s future; according to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Bengals’ owner Mike Brown reiterated at press conference in late March that the team has “no plans to trade Palmer.”
Palmer was picked first overall by the Bengals in the 2003 NFL Draft. Previously, he played for USC, winning the Heisman Trophy in 2002 after a breakout senior season.
Property records show that the quarterback purchased his home in 2003 for $2,042,000, most likely shortly after moving to Cincinnati. The median home value for The Village of Indian Hill real estate is $925,000 — much higher than Cincinnati’s median list price of $107,500. Sitting just a few miles northeast of Cincinnati, The Village at Indian Hill has a population of 5,900, significant historic spaces and a reputation for wealth. Notable residents of the affluent community include Neil Armstrong and billionaire businessman Carl Lindner Jr.
The 5-bedroom, 5.5-bath home sits on a private five-acre lot and includes cathedral ceilings, a gourmet kitchen and solarium. The home is filled with architectural details like carved-wood paneling, floor-to-ceiling windows and built-in bookcases. Additionally, the home has a full game room with pool table and wet bar. Outside, there’s a patio and gated, in-ground pool. The 5,575-square-foot home was constructed in 2002 — only a year before Palmer purchased it.
