New NFL NBA Stadium News Around The Nation

Several recent developments are worth noting in the world of professional sports.  Several communities are moving forward with plans for new stadiums and/or arenas in an attempt to either upgrade current facilities or entice new teams to come to their area.

Minnesota recently approved a plan for a new football stadium in Minneapolis.  The proposed new home for the Vikings will cost $975 million, half of which will be paid by the taxpayers with the remainder being paid for by the team and investors.  One of the interesting portions of the bill that was just signed into law is that the Vikings will not have to divulge any financial records during the building process.  Needless to say some lawmakers and citizens’ groups are not happy about that stipulation.

Plans continue for the proposed Farmer’s Field in downtown Los Angeles.  AEG CEO Tim Leiweke has conducted several interviews lately detailing the new field, planned to be a retractable roof stadium that will seat 72,000 fans.  It will be located on a 15-acre site adjacent to the Staples Center and it is of course hoped that the new stadium will bring the NFL back to downtown Los Angeles.

Meanwhile work is quietly being done behind the scenes in Seattle as wealthy investor Chris Hansen continues to do the groundwork to bring a new NBA arena to the Seattle area.  There appears to be no doubt that a team would relocate to Seattle if a new arena is built and it appears that if anyone can get this job done it will be the quiet, unassuming Hansen, a former Seattle resident and the spearhead behind this project.  Although no announcements have been made of late, word has it that Hansen is still going about his business taking care of the details and moving forward.

It seems that each new year brings news of a new stadium or arena so these stories and more like them will continue, most notably in Sacramento where major questions are still being asked about a new arena in that city.

Whatever happens we will be on top of the story because our business is taking care of the professional athletes who will be relocating to these new stadiums and arenas.  Give us a call at SportsRelocation.com if you have any needs regarding relocation.

Baseball Transactions Hot and Heavy

Baseball Transactions Hot and Heavy

We are a month-and-a-half into the regular season and teams are just starting to hit their stride and settle in for the long six-month race to the World Series.  Baseball purists will tell you that a player’s potential cannot be measured until they have at least 100 at-bats and we are now at that point.  Having seen the players now for this amount of time teams are starting to adjust their rosters looking for the perfect combination.

Most baseball fans might be surprised by the amount of activity currently going on.  In the weekend just passed sixty-one roster moves were made in Major League baseball.  Either players were sent down to the minors, called up from the minors, placed on the DL or signed a free agent contract.  Sixty-one players moved around during one weekend in May.

That is one heck of a lot of transactions considering we haven’t even made it to summer yet.  Sixty-one players now facing relocation once again and it isn’t even June yet.  All of them just settled in from relocating from the Spring Training facilities and now must relocate again.  This is one side of professional sports that most fans are unaware of and it is most definitely a troublesome side for athletes.

Many professional athletes are opting for signing short term leases on condos so that they don’t buy in a market they very well may not be living in a month down the road and really, who can blame them?  This is a nomad’s existence for many fringe players and until they can find some stability the only logical step for them to take is to sign a short-term lease for their living arrangements.

That still leaves the hassle of transporting possessions and arranging travel and securing transportation each and every time they need to relocate.  There are players in Major League baseball who will relocate three or four times during a season. That, my friends, is some serious instability.

That’s why we are here!  SportsRelocation.com is in business to take away the worries of relocation so you can just concentrate on improving your skills.  Hundreds of professional athletes in all the major sports have turned to us to help them with relocation.  Give us a call, tell us your needs and let us take care of the next relocation that you face.

Athlete Relocation Services U.S. Open, the British Open and the PGA Championship

The Masters is behind us and now all eyes are on the three remaining jewels of the Professional Golf Tour, namely the U.S. Open, the British Open and the PGA Championship.

The U.S. Open will be played June 14-17 at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.  The British Open is scheduled for July 19-22 at Royal Lytham in Lancashire, England and the PGA will be played this year from August 9-12 at Kiawah Island, South Carolina.

Who are the favorites this summer?  It’s hard to bet against Rory McElroy in any tournament and of course, Lefty, Phil Mickleson will be challenging no matter where the tour is played.  Will this be the summer when Tiger finds his game again and stalks the fairways pumping his fist?  As long as Tiger Woods is swinging a golf club his name will appear as one of the favorites in the major tournaments and considering his lifetime record that’s how it should be.

For those of you considering going to one of these great tournaments a word of warning:  places to stay are always at a premium. There is always limited hotel space, most notably in South Carolina, so make your reservations early if you plan to attend.

One thing you might consider is leasing a private residence for the week of the tournament.  There are often homeowners who lease their homes for a week and we can help you with that search if you need us.  If you are a homeowner then get in touch with us.  We have an extensive data base of clients in the professional sports world and entertainment world and many of those clients would be interested in leasing a home for the week of the event.  Simply give us a call and tell us about your home; give us the specifics and we’ll come to an arrangement so everyone is happy.

Golfers, if you should need help with any of your relocation needs give us a call at SportsRelocation.com.  We specialize in transporting possessions, vehicles, finding short term housing and a myriad of other tasks.  We can even arrange for limo service during the week of the tournament if that’s what you need.  If it has to do with relocation then SportsRelocation.com is the company to call.

NBA Players Looking For Off-Season Housing

While sixteen teams battle it out in the 2012 Playoffs, fourteen other teams are heading home to begin a short vacation before preparing for next year’s season.  Professional athletes rarely take too long away from training since their bodies are their greatest assets and must be kept in tip-top shape at all times.

Fourteen teams, fifteen players each, over two-hundred players all in the process of relocation to their hometown and/or the city where the team is located so they can work out in the team’s practice facilities.

Many people do not realize that a professional athlete is always on the move and each move requires a certain aspect of relocation.  Whether it be transporting vehicles or possessions, whether it be finding short-term housing or acquiring limo service, theirs is a life of constant adjustment and change.  It can be hectic and it can be frustrating.

It doesn’t have to be that way however; we at SportRelocation.com are well-established in this business.  We have been helping professional athletes with their relocation needs for quite some time now and we do it efficiently and effortlessly so you, the athlete, can concentrate on what you do best, namely play your sport.

Are you in need of short-term housing?  Maybe you just want to lease for a month, possibly a nice condo or a beachfront home?  You don’t think buying is a good option at this time but you really would like to sign a short-term lease for a nice property.  We have been working miracles in real estate for over a decade not; we have offices in Los Angeles and Las Vegas but we are affiliated nationwide so you name the neighborhood and we will find you what you want.

Ask around the League and chances are other players will tell you that when relocation is a problem then the folks at SportsRelocation.com are the people to call.  We are standing by to help you with your every need.  We have a full database of property listings in the major cities and we would love to match you up with one of those listings.

NBA PLAYOFFS UNDERWAY

NBA PLAYOFFS UNDERWAY

After 66 regular season games squeezed into four months and then one day to rest up, the NBA playoff teams are hard at it as competition has begun.

In the Western Conference the following match-ups are underway:

  • San Antonio vs Utan
  • Oklahoma City vs Dallas
  • L.A. Lakers vs Denver
  • Memphis vs L.A. Clippers

In the Eastern Conference we have these match ups:

  • Chicago vs Philadelphia
  • Miami vs New York
  • Indiana vs Orlando
  • Boston vs Atlanta

The season may have started with serious doubt as the lockout put a damper on things early on but the playoffs are serving notice to all basketball fans that nothing has changed in the League regarding the quality of entertainment provided by these players.

Last night Chris Paul led the Clippers to a record-breaking comeback in their game against Memphis.  Down by 27 point the Clippers managed to pull out the win as Paul nailed two free throws in the final seconds for the improbable victory.

With games like that one and players like Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant providing a thrill a minute it is easy to see why the NBA remains one of the great entertainment values in the United States.  Tune in for all the action over the next few weeks as the battles continue to name the new kings of the hardcourt for 2012.

If you should need any assistance in an upcoming relocation please contact the professionals at SportsRelocation.com.  We are here to alleviate any worries you might have with the relocation on the horizon.
